I remember thinking, maybe there is something to it ( as in mind control ) and that being why so many were/are fooled.
JW's do seem to be under some sort of spell. Their brains are broken. At my hehest, I watched my dad read a scripture once and confirm whether or not he believed it. Then, when he looked up from the page he would say the opposite of what he just read.
Some may just say that was his indoctrination kicking it. Maybe. But he certainly looked like he was unable to read a simple scripture and understand it once the spell/indoctrination/mind control kicked in. I could see in his eyes the exact moment when it did.
Here's a short good read on the occult origins of JW's.https://jashow.org/articles/the-pagan-roots-of-jehovahs-witnesses/

the name Jehovah: magical?
by enoughisenough indidn't know the best subject area to put this question under....i was listening to a discussion on youtube the other day while working, so not getting every point ....part of what was talked about was the word jehovah, ( not being the most accurate translation of yhwh ) was however pushed by illuminati /secret societies for its use in magic.
(as i informed, i wasn't getting the whole conversion as i also had attention elsewhere and some of the conversation was hard to follow.
) so i am wondering if anyone on here has more information on the subject they care to share.

Has the Watchtower Faithful Slave become the Evil Slave?
by Vanderhoven7 inwhat evidence suggests to you that the wt f&ds is actually more like the es of matthew 24?.
45¶who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?.
46blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.. .

The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites:
I think that an accurate assessment of the current status of the WT is that it has been deeply wounded (cut asunder) and that their dominant characteristic has emerged as hypocrisy ..... just as Jesus promised.Thank you Jesus. -

Lessons in Deception
by Sea Breeze ini recently came across a piece of historical trivia: italian singer adriano celentano released a song in the 70's with complete nonsense lyrics meant to mimic american english, to prove italians would love any english song.
it was a huge international hit!.
it made me think how the wt simillarly used a lot of stage props and nonsensical religious sounding words to fool millions into destroying their families and futures.

It is my understanding that they rejected the label "Christian" , until they felt the need to change that stance.
Not sure about that one. But for sure they used to claim that they were not a "religion", just a society. They changed that when they felt the need to get "religious" protection$ afforded to them under law.
They used to also deny that they had any "clergy" .... that is until they needed clergy/laity privledge afforded to them under law$.
The WT has played word games since their inception because they are expert liars. And most if not all JW's lied for them on occasion. For instance, when we were at someone's door and were asked whether or not we were there to change their religion, we would deny that we were there to do that and insist that we were only there to encourage bible reading.
A significant part of recovery from the JW religion is admitting that we all helped further WT lies. We were all perpetrators as much as we were victims. -

Who is the who of WHO we ARE? And when we die......where does the "who" go?
by Terry inif and when you deposit the check from me in your own bank--what happens to my actual personal wealth?.
2.what happens to my ability to use my entire personal wealth?
so, how do we answer the question of what happens to you when you die?.

Terry,
You steered the conversation away from your original question in your opening post:
Who is the who of WHO we ARE? And when we die......where does the "Who" go?
Do you have a clear viewpoint on these questions you raised? In other words, Who do you think you are? I admit, I had trouble seeing the relevance of Russian dolls with the original questions you proposed.
There is a documentary out in theaters right now called AFTER DEATH. I plan to go see it in the next day or two.
You pose really good questions in your OP. -

Not Former, you are more correct after thinking about it. Guess I'm getting tired.
In the JW world:
Grace was changed to Underserved KindnessJustification was changed to "Declared Righteous"
I am interested if anyone else heard that it was OK to refer to oneself as born again as a JW after 1996 when I left. -

Terry,
I think we all understand what rationality is. That was not my question.
above all, that one must never seek to get away with contradictions.
What is "wrong" with irrationality and contradictions? It is a chance universe in your view right? Maybe even multiverses. How do you know that in some universe contradictions might be the norm, even demanded as you have demanded logic in this one.
What is the basis for your certitude that rationality and non-contradiction is "correct"? And you still haven't answered where did logic and rationality come from in your worldview? It means a commitment to reason, not in sporadic fits or on selected issues or in special emergencies, but as a permanent way of life.
If we blew up a 5 gallon bucket of paint, why should you demand that the paint splatter on one wall be used as a standard to judge the other nonsensical splattered walls? Doesn't make any sense. It's arbitrary.
The rats in the video clip I posted above seem to do just fine without much rationality. The greatest rational minds in all of history, Einstein, Newton, Di Vinci have never discovered a way to eradicate them.
Your worldview is self defeating on its own merit and implodes upon itself under examination. It should be rejected as irrational, arbitrary and without basis.

I heard that they were allowed to claim to be born again when mainstream protestants challenged them on this on the doorstep...in the 80s. Is there any WT ruling on claiming to be "born again"?
I been out since 1996. So, hopefully, someone who has been in more recently can respond with something more current.
When I was in, I had no idea of the concept of Justification and that it meant the same thing as being "born again". So, I would have probably ignorantly answered that I was born again when I was an active JW.
However, the WT came right out and plainly said that the average member wasn't Justified in the early 1930's when they officially kicked off the two-tier salvation message (one with the New Covenant and one without it) that JW's are infamous for.
At some point they stopped using the term Justification altogether and replaced it with the term "underserved kindness", which furhter muddied the waters. It all sounds very religious and biblical, but is actually the opposite of bible teaching. ... Kinda like the funny Italian guy sounding like he's knows English in the song above and made millions of dollars while having a bit of fun. -

I think the video above is a recent mix on the original. I believe this is the original song....sounds English. Pretty funny. I think I heard him say something about "sugar coco pops".

PIMO friends tell me that their Cong just asked all Pubs to complete a written form that commits them to a monthly contribution. Said that this commitment is needed so the WTS will know how much they can depend on when considering foreign building projects
In 2014, Watchtower promised to never solicit money, and that begging is offensive.
“Jehovah’s people do not beg for money. ... They hold to what the Watch Tower long ago said: “We have never considered it proper to solicit money for the Lord’s cause, after the common custom . . . It is our judgment that money raised by the various begging devices in the name of our Lord is offensive, unacceptable to him, and does not bring his blessing either upon the givers or the work accomplished.””
God’s Kingdom Rules (2014) pp.195-196JW's are very gullible people as a whole.
